DKW F1000 1963 - 1975 Designed by Carrozzeria Fissore A van developed in 1963 at the SAIMOSA plant in Vitoria, Spain, then part of Auto Union, which Daimler-Benz had acquired in 1958. When Auto Union itself was sold to Volkswagen in 1965, the Vitoria plant alone remained with Daimler-Benz and was renamed MEVOSA. Production of the DKW F1000-based N1000 and N1300 began in 1975, marking an unusual chapter of Spanish-built Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles.

Dimensions

The DKW F1000 was developed in 1963 by Industrias del Motor SAIMOSA, a factory in Vitoria, Spain. Daimler-Benz acquired Auto Union in 1958 and sold it to Volkswagen in 1965, but the Vitoria plant belonged to Daimler-Benz, changed its name to MEVOSA and manufactured the F1000 as N1000 and N1300.

MB90, 100, 130, 150, 180 MEVOSA - Mercedes-Benz España, SA 1980 - 1986 The successor to the N1000/N1300, produced at the MEVOSA plant as a compact van under the "MB100" name. Widely adopted as a commercial vehicle with petrol and diesel engine options, establishing a solid presence in the European market.

W638 V-class 1995 - 2003 Designer : Lorenz Capellmann , Betrand Janssen , Peter Pfeiffer Mercedes-Benz's first proper minivan, offered as the passenger-oriented "V-Class" and commercial "Vito." Petrol and diesel engines were available. Continued production at the Vitoria plant in Spain, carrying forward the MB100 lineage with a more contemporary design.

W639 / V639 Viano 2003 - 2014 Designer : Lorenz Capellmann , Betrand Janssen , Peter Pfeiffer From this generation, the drive system became rear-wheel drive. The successor to the W638, with the upmarket passenger variant renamed "Viano" and the commercial variant continuing as "Vito." A broad engine range included V6 options. AMG variants were also introduced, strengthening its character as a premium minivan. Facelifted in 2010.

W447 / V447 V-class / Metris (USA and Canada) / Vito / EQV 05/2014 - Designer : Betrand Janssen , Gorden Wagener Current model, sharing some platform elements with the Renault Trafic while featuring Mercedes-Benz's signature high-quality interior and advanced safety systems. The passenger variant returned to the "V-Class" name, while "Vito" continued for the commercial variant. Electric eVito and EQV variants are also offered, supporting electrification.

W449 03/2026 - Designer : Bastian Baudy , Gorden Wagener(head of design) The successor to the V-Class and EQV, debuting globally in Stuttgart on March 10, 2026. The first production model built on the VAN.EA platform, forming a two-tier MPV lineup alongside the higher-tier VLS (E-Class / S-Class positioning). Pre-series production started at the Vitoria plant in Spain.

Note: 800V architecture supporting DC fast charging. Seats up to 8 passengers (from flexible family layouts to VIP shuttles). Battery capacity approx. 115 kWh with up to 700 km WLTP range. The VLE 400 4MATIC delivers approx. 415 hp (305 kW) via dual-motor 4WD. Mixed-material monocoque structure with aluminum construction (vehicle weight approx. 3.5 tonnes).
