Study of a pontoon convertible

1953

A prototype coupé unveiled at the 1953 Frankfurt Motor Show, combining a ponton-style body with an open-top cabriolet form. This experimental model can be seen as the origin of the Mercedes-Benz coupé lineage.

W114 Coupe

W114 Coupe 1969- 1976 Designer : Paul Bracq , Bruno Sacco , Friedrich Geiger An elegant coupé based on the W114 sedan, known in Japan as "Tate-me" for its vertical headlights. The pillarless side window construction created an airy, open interior. Paul Bracq's sculptural body lines continue to command admiration today.

C123 Coupe 06/1977 - 08/1985 Designer : Bruno Sacco , Friedrich Geiger A coupé variant of the W123 sedan, distinguished by a lower, more flowing roofline. The combination of whitewall tyres and chrome trim epitomises the signature Mercedes style of the late 1970s and early 1980s.

C124 / A124

C124 Coupe 03/1987 - 1996 Designer : Josef Gallitzendörfer , Peter Pfeiffer , Bruno Sacco Coupé (C124) and cabriolet (A124) variants of the W124 E-Class. The electrically operated soft-top of the A124 set the benchmark for open-car rigidity and refinement at the time. Engine options spanned inline-six and V8 units.

C207 Coupe 05/2009 - 2017 Designer : Gorden Wagener Coupé and cabriolet built on the W204 C-Class platform, sharing an identical wheelbase and produced alongside the W204 at the Bremen plant. Originally intended to continue the CLK name, the model was repositioned under the E-Class banner during development — a pattern that mirrored the W209 CLK's relationship with the W203 C-Class. The AMG E 63 Coupé produced 571 ps from its V8 engine.

C236 Coupe 07/2023 - Designer : Balázs Filczer , Gorden Wagener A new model consolidating the E-Class coupé/cabriolet and C-Class coupé into a single line. Built on the MRA II platform with a 48V mild-hybrid system across all variants. Body dimensions lean closer to the E-Class, reinforcing its premium coupé positioning.
